OIML Medal

Intention of the OIML Medal

The OIML Medal is intended to recognise the outstanding contribution of an individual to the development of legal metrology over several years.

The OIML Medal

The Award consists of:

• a Certificate of Appreciation signed by the CIML President;
• an engraved Medal.

Selection criteria

The criteria used to assess a candidate’s suitability to receive an OIML Medal include:

• distinguished contribution to legal metrology over several years;
• outstanding contributions to the development of international legal metrology;
• active participation in the work of the OIML.

Note:   CIML Members are not eligible to receive an OIML Medal.

Nominations and procedure

The BIML circulates an annual call to CIML Members for nominations for an OIML Medal.

CIML Members may make a nomination accompanied by a short note explaining the reasons why the candidate meets the criteria and deserves to receive an OIML Medal.

The BIML draws up a list of the candidates, highlighting the reasons for the nominations. The CIML President, in consultation with the two Vice-Presidents and the BIML Director, selects the successful candidate(s) who will be announced at the next CIML meeting.
